ABOUT THE CREATOR OF THE Be TERRIFIC COURSE

A Legacy of Education and Impact


The 
"Be TERRIFIC Course" was created by Ray Lipovac, who devoted 46 years to education, teaching in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. His passion for helping students succeed led to an inspiring career filled with innovation, leadership, and service.


Drawing from decades of experience, Ray wrote, created, and developed the transformational  "Be TERRIFIC Course."

Built on his classroom and coaching success, this powerful framework equips students, athletes, and any individual striving to be successful with the mindset, structure, and motivation needed to set and achieve goals, build character, and elevate themselves to reach peak performance.

The program has been utilized throughout his career and continues to assist individuals in becoming confident, resilient, and high-performing. The principles and strategies empower them to exceed beyond their own expectations.

Award Winning Teaching and Coaching Career


Teaching Career

Ray's commitment to excellence earned him special recognition, including being named "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" FIVE times, receiving his district's coveted "District Award of Excellence,"and also receiving "Hometown Hero" recognition.

Throughout his career, Ray always maintained high expectations and instilled a belief that every student could succeed and reach their peak performance level. ​ His powerful daily goal was: "To strive to have an impact and to make a difference every day."

Throughout his teaching career, Ray always had high expectations for all his students and athletes to assist these students become high achievers.  His dedication in all his teaching and coaching experiences was to make a difference by going above and beyond the basic curriculum standards to help students and athletes become successful.  

Incorporating the teaching of Personal Success Development, Character Education, Leadership Skills, and creating his own unique "T.E.R.R.I.F.I.C. Success Principles," and "S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Goal Setting System" was a significant focus that Ray had throughout his career. 

He also implemented student "Success Portfolios" into his teaching curriculum throughout his career in Education.   Ray created his "Be TERRIFIC" program early in his career from his experiences as an Educator and Coach.  This information was used in his teaching and coaching positions, where it had excellent results in assisting students and athletes in becoming successful in many areas of their lives. ​

During a period of 6 years during his teaching career, Ray brought in over $25,000 for his schools through numerous educational grants and sponsoring educational student Grand Prize contest wins.  

As a teacher, coach, and athletic director, he created his own educational websites. He wrote newsletters for not only the students but also for parents and community members to highlight the unique student project information and special events he was involved with.  

During his career in Education, Ray was interviewed numerous times on local TV stations for his educational special events and student performances while teaching.  

Throughout his career, Ray wrote many books on football skills and strategies to increase his knowledge when coaching football.  The intent of his writing the books was not to sell them, but instead to enhance his own knowledge and strategies in coaching and educational activities.  These books were also given to students, student-athletes, and coaches so that they could also increase their knowledge and, therefore, elevate their level of performance.              

Coaching Career

Alongside his award winning teaching career, Ray was a high school football coach for 28 years, where his dedication and skill led to being named "Coach of the Year" twice.

His coaching journey didn't stop there; he also coached various high school and middle school sports, as well as his children's youth baseball, softball, and basketball teams.  

His success as a football coach was exceptional:

• Coached 6 All-State Quarterbacks, including four "back-to-back-to-back-to-back."

 

• Coached another quarterback who earned back-to-back All-State honors.

 

• Coached 8 First Team All-Conference Quarterbacks.

 

• Coached numerous All-State and All-Conference Receivers.

Ray's athletes became part of high-powered Pass Offenses that gained reputations for discipline, precision, and peak performance. ​ His coaching went beyond the field—he focused on personal development, promoting leadership, confidence, and character in every player.

Leadership as an Athletic Director


Following his coaching years, Ray took on the role of high school Athletic Director, where he continued promoting leadership, teamwork, and personal development through athletics. ​

His focus on character and growth remained central to every program he led, and he implemented his "Be TERRIFIC program" for all sports in the school.

Honors from the Kansas City Chiefs

and "Hometown Hero" Recognition

Earlier in his career, Ray was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs as a "Chiefs Kingdom Champion" for his lifelong impact on youth and education. ​​  

He was given the honor of throwing the "First Pass" at Arrowhead Stadium before the Chiefs vs. Jets game.


Ray was also selected as a "Hometown Hero" by "Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance" and "Premier Sports Management" for his teaching and coaching performance. 


After retiring from his career in Education, Ray was employed by the Kansas City Chiefs for two years in a role with youth community outreach and fan development activities.    While working within the Chiefs organization, he was involved in community and school activities for youth from college, high school, middle school, and elementary ages.

Ray Lipovac was honored as a "Chiefs Kingdom Champion" by throwing the ceremonial "First Pass" at Arrowhead Stadium, throwing to Chiefs Hall of Famer, Christian Okoye, before the Chiefs vs. Jets game.

Educational Background

Ray received his Master's degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from Drake University and has 65 credit hours beyond his Master's. 

He also has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a double major in Education and Journalism from Drake University.
